Number of Exam Attempts

A candidate for a producer license may take an exam for a specific line of authority up to 4 times in a 12-month period. After failing the fourth time, no more exams for that line of authority can be taken for one year. If the individual failed a combined exam, each line of authority is considered to have been failed individually.

General Insurance

Aleatory Contracts

Insurance contracts are aleatory, which means there is an exchange of unequal amounts or values. The premium paid by the insured is small in relation to the amount that will be paid by the insurer in the event of loss.

Preauthorization and 2nd Opinion

Preauthorization is a cost-containment measure requiring that the insured obtain approval from the insurer before getting an expensive surgery, referred to a specialist, or nonemergency healthcare service.

A second opinion is a separate assessment of a patient by a different medical professional who will, then, affirm or modify the patient’s diagnosis and treatment plan.
