Required Hours

β€’ Producers licensed as Life and Health and/or Property and Casualty must take 18 hours of CE including 3 hours of Ethics every 2 years.

β€’ Public Adjusters are required to complete 18 hours of CE including 3 hours of Ethics every 2 years.

License terms are every 2 years based on the producer’s date of birth. Licensees who are born in an even year will renew on even years; those born in an odd year will renew in odd years. Kansas does not allow excess credit hours to be carried forward into the next license term. A course may not be repeated for credit within a 2-year license term. Courses that are purchased with the same title are considered repeated courses

NOTE: Be sure to complete all of your CE credit hours BEFORE submitting your license renewal application.

Category Restrictions

For single or dual major lines (Life, Health, Property, Casualty, Personal Lines), producers must complete 3 credit hours of coursework approved for Ethics. The remaining required course credits may be taken in any approved topic at the producer's discretion.

Special Training

β€’ FLOOD INSURANCE TRAINING – Kansas producers licensed in Property/Casualty/Personal Lines who sell National Flood Insurance Policies are required to take a one-time 3-hour course on Flood Insurance prior to selling flood insurance policies.

β€’ ANNUITY BEST INTEREST TRAINING – Kansas licensed producers must complete a state approved one-time 4-hour Annuity Suitability Best Interest Standard course before selling, soliciting or negotiating any annuity products. The ExamFX Annuity Suitability Best Interest Standard course satisfies this requirement.

β€’ LONG-TERM CARE TRAINING
– Before a producer can sell or solicit Long-Term Care Insurance, they must complete an initial, state approved, 4 hours of Long-Term Care Certification Training prior to selling, soliciting or negotiating LTC products or policies. After the initial requirement has been met, producers are required to complete a 1-hour ongoing LTC training course every 2-year renewal period . If a producer satisfies this training requirement in another state, they will be deemed compliant for the Kansas requirement.
