Required Hours

Producers in Missouri are required to take 16 hours, 3 of those being in Ethics, every 2 years. The license term is 2 years from the license issuance date. A course may not be repeated more than once in a 2-year license term. All hours that are earned in excess may be carried into the next 2-year license term.

NOTE: Be sure to complete all of your CE credit hours BEFORE submitting your license renewal application.

Category Restrictions

Licensees must take courses pertaining to their license type. Multiple lines of authority are not required to be divided evenly between the lines of authority.

Special Training

β€’ LONG-TERM CARE PARTNERSHIP TRAINING β€“ Before a producer can sell or solicit Long-Term Care Insurance they must be licensed as a Life and Health producer and complete a course approved by the Missouri Department of Insurance, Financial Institutions, and Professional Regulation for 8 hours of initial Long-Term Care Training. Producers must then complete a 4-hour ongoing training requirement (pre-approved by the Missouri DIFP) each 2-year license term following the completion of the initial 8-hour training.

β€’ FLOOD INSURANCE TRAINING 
– Missouri licensed producers who sell National Flood Insurance Policies are required to take a one-time 3-hour course on Flood Insurance.

β€’ ANNUITY SUITABILITY 
– Missouri licensed producers must complete a one-time 4-hour Annuity Suitability Best Interest Standard course before selling or soliciting any annuity products. The ExamFX Annuity Suitability and Best Interest Standard Training course satisfies this requirement.

Course Presentation

β€’ CERTIFICATE EXAM – Licensees are required to pass the certificate exam with a 70% or better.

β€’ STUDY BY TOPIC QUIZZES – ExamFX recommends that all Study by Topic Quizzes are passed with a 70% or better.

β€’ ATTESTATION – The attestation must be completed following the certificate exam.

Certificates of Completion

Your certificate of completion will be processed within two (2) business days and can be downloaded/printed from the "View Certificate(s)" link in the course launch portal. Completions are normally reported within two (2) business days of the certificate having been issued. There is a state charge of $1.00 per credit hour in order to report completions. This fee will be charged prior to accessing the certificate exam.

Non-Resident Producers

Producers that hold a non-resident license must submit an original and current certification letter showing compliance with their home state’s CE requirements. If the producer resides in a state that participates in the Producer Data Base, a certification letter is not required.

Producers that reside in states that do not require CE must complete Missouri approved CE courses and list them on the Missouri CE Summary Report Form.

If the non-resident producer has not taken the NAIC 8-hour LTC training in another state, they must comply with the Missouri LTC training requirements. (See Special Training requirements above).

CE Exemptions

The following producers are exempt from Missouri CE requirements:

β€’ Has suffered a serious physical injury or illness.

β€’ Who resides outside of the United States.

β€’ Sells only crop insurance or pre-arranged funeral plan insurance.

β€’ Is at least 70 years old.

β€’ The license is restricted to Credit.
