New Mexico Insurance Continuing Education Courses and Requirements
📅 Updated September 4, 2025🟠 ExamFX Provider #3680
Courses Available
New Mexico requires producer licensing candidates to take and complete a state-approved prelicensing course. You will also need to apply for your license with the state insensing process.
Required Hours
Producers and adjusters are required to complete 24 hours of continuing education, including 3 hours of Ethics, every 2 years. The license term end on the last day of the producer's birth month, biennially. Even birth years renew in even years, odd birth years renew in odd years.
Producers must complete a minimum of 3 hours of CE course hours for each compliance period in a formal classroom or in a live webinar course that permits the licensee to interact with a live instructor. Licensees are responsible for tracking this requirement.
No carry over of excess credit hours are allowed. A course may not be repeated for credit more than once within 3 years from the original completion date.
NOTE: Be sure to complete all of your CE credit hours BEFORE submitting your license renewal application.
Category Restrictions
Producers must take approved courses in the line of authority in which they are licensed.
Special Training
• ANNUITY BEST INTEREST TRAINING – New Mexico licensed producers must complete a state approved one-time 4-hour Annuity Suitability Best Interest Standard course before selling, soliciting or negotiating any annuity products. The ExamFX Annuity Suitability Best Interest Standard course satisfies this requirement.
• LONG-TERM CARE TRAINING – Before a producer can sell or solicit Long-Term Care Insurance, they must complete a state approved, one-time 8-hour Long-Term Care Training course. Producers must then complete a 4-hour ongoing training requirement every 2 years following the initial completion of the 8-hour training. The satisfaction of the training requirement in any state will satisfy the training requirement in New Mexico for non-resident agents.
