Arizona Insurance Prelicensing Requirements

Requirements Overview

Arizona does not require licensing candidates to complete prelicensing education; however, ExamFX highly recommends that you complete an educational course before attempting to take your state’s licensing exam.

How do I get my license?

Step 1 (optional): Complete an optional prelicensing course that helps prepare you to take and pass your licensing exam.

Step 2: Schedule your exam with your state’s testing provider, PSI. The fastest way to schedule your exam is to do so online with PSI or call (877) 215-7924. Arizona insurance exams can also be taken with a proctor via the PSI Bridge remote testing platform. To change or cancel your testing appointment, you must contact PSI at least 48 hours in advance or forfeit the examination fee.

Step 3: Take and pass your state licensing exam. On the day of your appointment, you must bring with you one valid form of government-issued identification (driver’s license, passport, military ID, etc.) that must contain a photograph and a signature. You will not be able to take your exam if these requirements are not met.

At the end of your exam, your score will be shown on the screen, and you will receive a printed score report. The report shows your overall score and grade, including the numerical percentage of questions answered correctly and whether you passed or failed.

Step 4: After passing your licensing exam, schedule your fingerprinting appointment with Fieldprint.

Note: Do not schedule your fingerprint appointment until you have passed your licensing exam. You will not be fingerprinted if you do not pass your exam, as all fees are non-refundable.

Candidates who pass all parts of an examination will receive a score report. The report shows your overall score and grade, including the numerical percentage of questions answered correctly and whether you passed or failed. For candidates who fail one or more parts of the examination, a separate numeric score will be reported for each failed part.

Step 5: Apply for your license with NIPR. Detailed licensing information can be found through the Department of Insurance and Financial Institutions.

Step 6: Maintain your license by being aware of your continuing education requirements. Most insurance licenses must be maintained by completing a certain number of credit hours of continuing education each licensing period. ExamFX offers continuing education courses that will help you comply with your state’s requirements. Click here to view your state’s education rules and stay on top of your license.
