New Hampshire Insurance Prelicensing Information
📅 Updated April 25, 2025Requirements Overview
New Hampshire does not require licensing candidates to complete prelicensing education; however, ExamFX highly recommends that you complete an educational course before attempting to take your state’s licensing exam.
How do I get my license?
Step 1: (Optional): Complete an optional prelicensing course that helps prepare you to take and pass your licensing exam.
Step 2: Schedule your exam with your state’s testing provider, PSI. The fastest way to schedule your exam is online at PSI or call (800) 733-9267. Your exam may be taken at a physical PSI examination center or via a remote online proctored exam. Exam fees must be paid at the time of reservation.
To change or cancel your testing appointment, you may visit or call PSI. You must make changes at least 24 hours before the exam appointment to avoid forfeiting your fee.
IMPORTANT NOTE: When you register for ExamFX prelicensing courses, schedule your license exam, and/or apply for your license it is important to use the same name that appears on the identification forms you plan to present at the time of your testing appointment.
Step 3: Take and pass your state licensing exam. On the day of your appointment, you must bring with you one valid form of government-issued identification (driver’s license, passport, military I.D., etc.), which must contain your photograph.
Security measures are taken for all testing methods. Restrictions on what you may bring with you to the testing center, into the testing room, and what you may wear will be enforced. For more detailed information about the security measures that will be taken during your testing appointment, please read and review the candidate bulletin offered at PSI.
Once you have completed your examination you will be made aware of your results.
Step 4: Apply for your license. New Hampshire resident applicants must use the online application service at NIPR, and additional guidance will be provided on the website.
Step 5: Maintain your license by being aware of your continuing education requirements. Most insurance licenses must be maintained by completing a certain number of credit hours of continuing education each licensing period. ExamFX offers CE courses that will help you comply with your state’s requirements. Click here to view your state’s education rules and stay on top of your license.
