California 2-Hour Variable Life Insurance Policies

California life agents who sell variable life insurance policies must complete 2 hours of variable life-specific training before each license renewal. Applies to both California resident and non-resident licenses.​

This requirement is part of, and not in addition to, the California resident licensee's continuing education requirement.

   6. Separate accounts.
   7. Qualifications of agents to sell variable life insurance.
3. Whether the Policy is Appropriate for the Consumer
   1. “Best Interest,” 17 CFR Section 240.15/-1, Regulation Best Interest.
   2. Considerations.
4. Additional Requirements and Best Practices
   1. How requirements for selling in person and online differ. Compare and contrast.
