NEVADA INSURANCE PRELICENSING INFORMATION

Nevada requires potential agents take and complete a state approved prelicensing course before taking their licensing exam.

 

HOW DO I COMPLETE MY EXAMFX PRELICENSING EDUCATION COURSE?

To earn your certificate of completion for ExamFX’s Life, Health, Property or Casualty insurance prelicensing courses, you must:

  • Complete all Study by Topic reading chapters and Study by Topic quizzes. Study by Topic quizzes must be passed with a score of 70% or better.
  • After completing the Study by Topic reading and quizzes, you must complete and pass the certificate exam with a score of 70% or better with a proctor/disinterested third party present. The disinterested third party chosen by the licensee to monitor your simulated exam must have no financial interest in the success or failure of a licensee maintaining an insurance license and must not be a minor, relative, supervisor, or an employee under your line of supervision.


To earn your certificate of completion for ExamFX’s Personal Lines insurance prelicensing course, you must:

  • Complete all Study by Topic reading chapters and Study by Topic quizzes. Study by Topic quizzes must be passed with a score of 70% or better.
  • Complete flashcard exercises.
  • Access and completely view all video lectures.
  • After completing the Study by Topic reading and quizzes, you must complete and pass the certificate exam with a score of 70% or better with a proctor/disinterested third party present. The disinterested third party chosen by the licensee to monitor your simulated exam must have no financial interest in the success or failure of a licensee maintaining an insurance license and must not be a minor, relative, supervisor, or an employee under your line of supervision.

HOW DO I GET MY LICENSE?

Step 1: Complete a prelicensing course that has been approved by the Department of Insurance. Once you have completed your course, ExamFX will review your proctor choice. Once the review is completed, ExamFX will issue a certificate of completion which you may download and print from your online account.

Step 2: Schedule your exam with your state’s testing provider, Pearson VUE. The fastest way to schedule your exam is to do so online. You can also schedule your exam over the phone at (800) 274-2609. Your exam fee for a single line exam is $51 and combo exams are $61.

To change of cancel your testing appointment, you must contact Pearson VUE at least 48 hours in advance or forfeit the examination fee.

IMPORTANT NOTE: When you register for ExamFX prelicensing courses, schedule your license exam, and/or apply for your license it is important to use the same name that appears on the identification forms you plan to present at the time of your testing appointment.

Step 3: Schedule a fingerprinting appointment with IdentoGO by MorphoTrust, USA for digital fingerprints.

Step 4: Take and pass you state licensing exam. On the day of your appointment you must bring with you two valid forms of government issued identification (driver’s license, passport, military I.D., etc.), one of which must contain your name and photograph. You will not be able to take your exam if these requirements are not met.

At the end of your exam, you will receive a printed score report marked “pass” or “fail.”

Step 5: Apply for your license at www.sircon.com/Nevada. You must include: your signed Fingerprint Background Waiver Form, the receipt for your fingerprints, and any other required supporting documentation. Step 6: Maintain your license by being aware of your continuing education requirements. Most insurance licenses must be maintained by completing a certain number of credit hours of continuing education each licensing period. WHAT WILL MY EXAM BE LIKE?

Your exam experience is dependent on the line of authority you are testing for but all exams take place by computer. Carefully review the below examination breakdowns to learn important factors like:

  4. the score that you must achieve to pass the exam

 

Note that the practice tests and the state exam will be broken into two sections: General Knowledge and State Law; however, you will receive a single score for the entire exam.

I FAILED MY EXAM. NOW WHAT?

We are sorry to hear that you have failed your first attempt at passing your state’s licensing exam. These licensing exams are difficult and some candidates must try again to reach their goal. We want to help you get there, so we recommend that you:

Step 1: You must re-register by following the initial registrations and scheduling steps after a 24 hour waiting period.

Step 2: ExamFX’s subject matter experts are available by email at instructor.support@examfx.com to help you pass your licensing exam on your next attempt. Many testing providers will supply you with a score report or performance summary after your testing appointment. Use this report to let the ExamFX subject matter experts know what areas of the exam that you are struggling the most with.
